Parent Code of Ethics
This Parent Code of Ethics was made by parents, for parents!
Welcome new and returning parents to the Coyote athletic family. We aspire to develop a strong partnership with our parent group and trust that we can count on your support in the following ways:
- Be a positive role model for your student athlete by practicing and demonstrating the rules of good sportsmanship. Heckling of officials or opposing teams cannot be tolerated.
- Offer enthusiastic encouragement by cheering on your Coyotes team and/or individual player(s). Please refrain from ‘coaching’ your athlete during games. Our coaching staff is knowledgeable & dedicated and works with the individual team dynamics to achieve the best strategies possible for competitive play.
- Playing time for each student athlete may vary and is largely determined by individual coaching philosophy. A player may have a specific role on their team or there may be predetermined skill sets required for certain situations. Injuries, nerves or discipline could also be contributing factors. Every player has the right to ask a coach what they can do to get more playing time. As a policy of the Centennial Athletic Department; coaches will not discuss playing time, other athletes or tactical strategies with parents.
- Our coaches do their best to mentor our students throughout their high school athletic and educational experience. Everyone (athlete/coach/parent) has a reasonable expectation to be treated fairly and equitably. However, we are all just human and subject not only to our own feelings, emotions and opinions – but sometimes rightly or wrongly to those of others. As we are developing important life skills in these young adults; athletes are encouraged to communicate first with their coach(es) and/or athletic director prior to parent involvement. Sometimes there is still a need for parents to intervene or advocate to simply share a comment about a game or practice or specific information about your student athlete. Providing the dialogue between players, coaches and parents is honest, constructive and respectful the doors are open!
- Do your best to support the team and the coaching staff by talking positively about the season whether speaking with other parents, spectators or your own athlete. Please trust in our coaches that they too will help your student develop as an athlete and citizen.
- Attend games as often as you are able. Participate! Get involved by providing ‘treats’ for your team or host a team meal or ask the coaching staff if there is anything else you can do.

ATHLETIC AWARDS
PHILOSOPHY
At Centennial High School we value the athletic program. We see all sports as equal and important. We want our athletes to work towards achieving excellence in any program that they are involved in. We believe that each student should have the opportunity to become the best that they can be in whatever sport the student chooses. We also believe that involvement in the athletic program is very important for both the athlete and the school.
We are a multi-sport school where we encourage all our students to play on multiple teams; studies and literature show that the multi-sport athlete has less injuries and is valued in the workplace.
Because of these values we will present the following awards at our Night of the Coyote awards evening held each June. This evening will celebrate our school programs and our athletes.
